| I don't really think of myself as a fiber artist yet; however, I have consistently chosen some form of fiber for many of my creative endeavors. As a teenager in the 70's, it was macrame--not only the necklace and bracelet stuf that were quite popular then, but large wall- hangings, often incorporating various found items (most of them natural). A little later, I learned weaving and acquired a full-size loom. Still in college and moving about quite a bit, the loom became too unwieldy. I switched to knitting and crochet, got hold of a knitting machine and experimented with unconventional combinations and usage. My ventures into quilting began nearly fifteen years ago, originally inspired by some magnificent examples of traditional Hawaiian quilts, then moving to broader ranges of design. I truly admire the many fine quilters in our state, but still find my main inspiration within my own experience. |
